Cultural changes in society have been slowing despite the political Establishment attempting to adjust people’s taste downward

It is interesting to think about the cultural differences in society in between 1920 and 1960, and then between 1985 and 2025— where both are 40 year differences, however the cultural changes that occurred in the latter 40 years are very slight even as technology has become much more advanced and more accessible by everyone.

For example the following music videos seem as modern today as they did in the 1980’s.  (Note that I don’t necessarily like some of those groups however.)

Popular Western culture such as music and movies hasn’t really changed much since the 80’s and 90’s, other than the ridiculous dysfunctional “wokeness” that the political Establishment has been recently trying to force onto everyone.  Actually the political Establishment has always exploited the popular culture for its own purposes however, starting even decades before the 80’s.

(Nonetheless I think a difference between now and then is many of the new popular music celebrities today aren’t as sophisticated or clever of musicians or songwriters, where I think the new music is generally much more one-dimensional and monotonous across songs, and the topics spoken about are more superficial and vapid.  I actually think that is also likely at the instructions of the political Establishment.)

In any event, the biggest factor in slowing the cultural changes has been the internet decentralizing and diffusing what defines everyone’s taste, where there is no longer a monolithic defining source through the broadcast media as was the case prior to the internet.

Nonetheless a downward shift in culture will more rapidly be occurring in the future as the political Establishment will not be letting up on its attacks on society with its intentionally harmful agendas.  See the weekly online show “You Can’t Stop Progress” that shows the current state of dysfunctional leftist culture.
