By executive order, Obama has made it possible for immigrants to become U.S. citizens without taking an oath of allegiance or a pledge to defend America

Following is a summary of this Breitbart article

Legal immigrants seeking U.S. citizenship through the naturalization process are now exempt from pledging to “bear arms on behalf of the United States,” being allowed to opt out of that part of the oath due to an executive order by the Obama Administration which circumvented Congressional debate and approval.

As with other immigration laws, the Republican controlled Congress has not used its constitutional powers to reverse the administrative action by the unelected bureaucrats at the USCIS (United States Citizenship and Immigration Service), who are given great leeway in managing the naturalization process.

From the article:  “Yet, in view of Obama’s actions, why doesn’t Congress change the law and take control of the Oath of Allegiance?  ..  If they won’t even bar Islamic terrorists from the refugee program, why should we expect them to protect the Oath of Allegiance?  Some members of Congress will grumble, make speeches and issue press releases, but the Republican leadership will do nothing.”

18.7 million immigrants are currently eligible to eventually become citizens, and 8.8 million already meet the 5-year residency requirement.

Riots occurred in Charlotte for two days after a black man was killed by a black cop, the brother of the victim said “all white cops and white people are devils,” a Muslim preacher threatened more violence and said “white folks don’t respect us”

Following is a summary of this DailyMail article

Keith Lamont Scott, 43, a black father of seven, was shot and killed by a black police officer in the parking lot of an apartment complex in Charlotte, North Carolina on Tuesday afternoon, prompting two days of rioting in the city due to widespread belief on social media that Scott was unarmed and only carrying a book.

Police claim that Scott disregarded repeated demands to drop his gun, but his family and neighborhood residents insist he was only holding a book instead of a weapon as he waiting for his son to get off of a school bus.

Violence broke out when Scott’s daughter posted a profanity-laced hour long video on Facebook claiming that he was disabled and was unarmed.

On Wednesday, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Chief Kerr Putney said that the officers were serving arrest warrants on another person when they saw Scott get out of a vehicle with a handgun, and a black officer Brentley Vinson shot him after making “loud, clear” demands to drop his gun.  Putney made it clear that Scott posted a threat even though he didn’t point the gun at officers, and he said a book was not found but Scott’s gun was found next to him on the ground.

Neighbors claimed that the officer who fired was white and Scott had his hands in the air, but some who said they witnessed the shooting told their versions with an air of certainty even though they were hundreds of yards away.

The three uniformed officers had body cameras, but Vinson, who was plainclothes, did not.  The Chief said he cannot release the video because an investigation is underway.

Dozens of demonstrators threw rocks at police and reporters, damaged squad cars, closed part of Interstate 85, and looted and set fire to a stopped truck on Tuesday night.  Authorities used tear gas to break up the protests, where sixteen officers suffered minor injuries and one person was arrested.

While the city’s white mayor and black police chief appealed for calm at city hall, African American leaders who claimed to be speaking for Scott’s family held their own news conference near the scene of the incident, reminding the crowd of other shootings and abuses of black men.

Wednesday’s protest started as a downtown prayer vigil, but a hostile group left the event and marched through downtown Charlotte chanting “Black Lives Matter” slogans, then running into officers in riot gear where some marchers threw objects at them, escalating into the riot police firing flash grenades and tear gas to disperse the crowd.

A protester was critically injured after being shot in the head by another protestor, and several members of the media were assaulted and taken to hospitals.

Late on Wednesday, Governor Pat McCrory declared a state of emergency and called in the National Guard and state troopers to restore order and protect the downtown.

In 2013, Charlotte police charged one of their officers with voluntary manslaughter after he shot an unarmed black man who had been in a car accident and was looking for help.  The jury deadlocked and the charge was dropped last summer, which resulted in protests but no violence.

More than a quarter of French Muslims follow hardline Islam and and half back Sharia law

Following is a summary of this Express UK article

A survey conducted by the Institut Montaigne think tank shows that more than a quarter of Muslims in France follow hardline Islamic practices and almost half support Sharia law.

The study shows that 28% follow an “authoritarian” interpretation of Islamic texts that advocates a split from French Society, and 54% believe support the idea of Sharia law in France, with 14% of 15 to 25-year-olds supporting Sharia law.

The co-Author of the report, Hakim El Karoui, said “They (young French Muslims) feel rejected.  French society is sending them the message: you are not French.  In a way they are getting revenge by hanging on to the identity they have.”

The report was issued after a controversial decision to ban the burkini by mayors in certain French coastal resorts, who have refused to lift the ban.

Some in the media are speculating about a potential inevitable confrontation with Islam as indicated by the report, but politicians are not acknowledging it.

Obama snubbed a Senate hearing in order to admit 110,000 more unvetted Muslim migrants beginning on October 1, 2016

coexist-suicide-vest

Following is a summary this Washington Examiner article:

Obama Administration immigration officials have snubbed today’s scheduled Senate hearing about the its plan to admit 110,000 more refugees beginning on October 1, 2016.  Instead, Obama went to New York to advocate for increased acceptance of even more refugees, especially from Syria, and Obama even went as far as to say that admitting more refugees makes America safer.  [Note: The refugees being brought in are not adequately vetted.]

The hearing was required by law, so it wasn’t a surprise to the administration.

Following are quotes from Sen. Jeff Sessions, chair of the now postponed hearing:

Despite having sufficient notice of a statutorily required hearing regarding its plans for the Refugee Admissions Program in Fiscal Year 2017, the Obama administration has once again elected to subordinate both its relationship with Congress and the legitimate concerns of the American people to advance the agenda of the United Nations. …

[N]ot one official is available to appear at tomorrow’s scheduled hearing due to this week’s United Nations General Assembly and Summit for Refugees and Migrants. …

Also officials from Homeland and HHS] also refused to attend tomorrow’s hearing in a strange display of bureaucratic solidarity with the Department of State’s indefensible decision. …

The American people deserve explanations about the administration’s reckless plans to admit 110,000 refugees beginning on October 1, 2016.  They demand that their leaders end the lawlessness and abuses in the Refugee Admissions Program, and that their leaders place the safety and security of this country first.

Ahmad Rahami has been charged for the Saturday New York and New Jersey bombings

Following is a summary of this CNN article

Ahmad Rahami, the suspect in Saturday’s bombings in New York and New Jersey, has been charged for the crimes under the use of a weapon of mass destruction, bombing, destruction of property and use of a destructive device.

Rahami is originally from Afghanistan, coming to the United States in 1995 as a child after his father arrived seeking asylum.  He became a U.S. citizen in 2011.

In the last five years, Rahami traveled for extended periods to Afghanistan and Pakistan.  In 2011, Rahami spent several weeks in Kandahar, Afghanistan, and Quetta, Pakistan, which is known to be a stronghold of the Taliban.  Two years later in 2013 he returned to Pakistan and stayed for nearly a year, and his brother traveled to Pakistan at around the same time.

When Rahami returned to the US, immigration officials asked him about the travels, and he replied that he was visiting family which satisfied any concerns they may have had.

While he was in Pakistan in 2011, he married a Pakistani woman and filed paperwork to bring her back to the US, and it was approved in 2012.  In 2014, Rahami contacted Congressman Albio Sires’ office from Islamabad, saying he was concerned about his wife’s passport and visa.

Rahami’s wife left the U.S. a few days before Saturday’s attacks, according to law enforcement officials.

A notebook was found on Rahami which mentions the Boston Marathon bombers and Anwar al-Awlaki, the Yemeni-American imam who was a spokesman for al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula.  Awlaki was killed in 2011 and has been a source of inspiration for many terrorist attacks.

Rahami’s father had called the FBI two years ago when his son was acting violently, accusing him of being a terrorist.  Rahami was jailed for a family dispute where he stabbed one of his relatives, but the FBI never interviewed him and he was never placed in an FBI database of potential terrorists.

Surveillance video from Saturday evening shows Rahami dragging a duffel bag with wheels near the site of the West 23rd street explosion, about 40 minuted before the blast, and 10 minutes later surveillance video showed the same man with the same duffel bag on West 27th Street, near the site of the second bomb.

Rahami was identified Sunday afternoon through a fingerprint.  Evidence from the cell phone on the pressure cooker also led to Rahami’s identification.

He was captured in Linden, N.J., where a bar owner spotted him sleeping in the doorway of his bar.

When officers responded, Rahami started shooting at them, striking an officer in his protective vest, and a chase ensued while Rahami shot at a police car, causing a bullet to graze another officer in the face.  Rahami was then shot multiple times and taken to a hospital for surgery.

Rahami was charged with five counts of attempted murder of a law enforcement officer and unlawful weapons charges.

More than 800 immigrants from “countries of concern to national security” are reported mistakenly being granted citizenship in the U.S.

Homeland Security Inspector General John Roth.

Following is summary of this Associated Press article

The U.S. Government has mistakenly granted citizenship to at least 858 immigrants from “countries of concern to national security,” an internal Homeland Security audit reported Monday.  The Homeland Security Department’s inspector general found that the immigrants used different names or birthdates to apply for citizenship and the discrepancies weren’t caught because their fingerprints were missing from government databases.

The report does not identify any of the immigrants by name or the countries they came from, but Inspector General John Roth’s auditors said they were all from “special interest countries” which present a national security threat to the United States, or neighboring countries with high rates of immigration fraud.

The emailed statement said the findings reflected a longstanding problem of old paper-based records containing fingerprint information that can’t be searched electronically.  DHS says immigration officials are in the process of uploading those files, and officials review “every file” identified as a case of possible fraud.

The report says fingerprints are missing from federal databases for as many as 315,000 immigrants that have final deportation orders or are fugitive criminals.

The government has known about the information gap since at least 2008 when a Customs and Border Protection official identified 206 immigrants who used different names or other information to gain citizenship or other benefits, but few cases have been investigated.

ICE officials generally haven’t pursued many of those cases in the past because federal prosecutors “generally did not accept immigration benefits fraud cases,”  but ICE says that the Justice department has now agreed to focus on cases involving people who have acquired security clearances, jobs of public trust or other security credentials.

Mistakenly awarding citizenship to someone ordered deported can have serious consequences, because U.S. citizens can apply and receive security clearances and take security-sensitive jobs.

At least three of the immigrants-turned-citizens were able to acquire aviation or transportation worker credentials and access secure areas of airports or maritime facilities and vessels, and a fourth person became a law enforcement officer.  Their credentials were revoked after they were identified as having received citizenship improperly, said the report.

The report recommended that all of the outstanding cases be reviewed and the fingerprints from those cases be added to the government’s database.

A government survey is showing that Canadians in Ontario are often opposed to Muslim immigration, and officials are calling it an “epidemic of Islamophobia”

Following is a summary of this DailyCaller article

After 12,000 Muslim immigrants have been brought into Ontario by the Canadian government, a survey conducted by that province and the city of Toronto shows dislike of the immigrants.  The survey was a part of an educational campaign “to address xenophobia, Islamophobia, and anti-immigrant sentiments.”

Three-quarters of Canadians living in the region say that immigrants hold fundamentally different values and a majority believe mainstream Islam promotes violence.

Only one-third of residents have a positive impression of the religion.

Three-quarters of Ontarians wish their country would focus on taking care of its own citizens rather than devoting resources to bringing in and supporting foreign migrants.

53 percent of Ontarians say Canada should accept immigrants only from countries that have similar values, and 74 percent say Canada needs to be more strict about immigrants it accepts into the country.

The Toronto Star, which first reported the survey results, wrote: “While Canada rides a wave of global praise for welcoming Syrian refugees, a new poll suggests we’re also facing a wave of something sinister — Islamophobia.”

Canadian officials who conducted the survey also made claims of “Islamophobia,” saying “There is an epidemic of Islamophobia in Ontario.  Only a third of Ontarians have a positive impression of the religion and more than half feel its mainstream doctrines promote violence (an anomaly compared to other religions).”

Toronto also reports a steady flow of domestic violence complaints from Syrian woman who are willing to come forward to report abuse.
